DISCOVER THE HISTORIC SPA TOWN KARLOVY VARY

Join us on a day trip to Karlovy Vary, a historic spa town situated approximately 100 km west of Prague. Founded in 1358 by Czech king Charles IV, Karlovy Vary (also known as Carlsbad) has attracted many famous individuals, including German poet Goethe and Russian Tsar Peter the Great, who have been healed by its numerous thermal springs. The riverside spa district boasts several colonnades with columned walkways, including the Hot Spring Colonnade, which is located directly in the spa centre of Karlovy Vary above the Teplá River near Divadelní náměstí (Theatre Square). The geyser of the Hot Spring is a unique natural phenomenon, yielding an average of 2,000 litres of mineral water per minute and gushing to a height of almost 12 metres. The thermal water from the spring is supplied to various spa facilities and used for the production of Karlovy Vary thermal salt and traditional stone-coated souvenirs.

Take a stroll from the Hot Spring in the spa centre across Jánský most (Jánský Bridge) to Tržiště (Market) Street, and you will come across the Market Colonnade and Charles IV spring, where, according to legend, Emperor Charles IV healed his ailing limbs. The famed legend of the foundation of Karlovy Vary is depicted on the bronze relief hanging directly over the spring bowel.

For Art Nouveau enthusiasts, don't miss out on visiting Felix Zawojski house. This Art Nouveau house was built in 1900 by master tailor Zawojski for his fashion salon. It was the first burgher house lift in Karlovy Vary when installed in 1910. Between 2006 and 2008, it underwent complete reconstruction and conversion into a luxury hotel in the old-world style. The sophisticatedly restored Art Nouveau façade won 1st prize in the "2007 Façade of the Year" competition.

Experience the beauty of Karlovy Vary with our day trip, which includes a traditional lunch with a choice of three meals at a local restaurant.

Fun fact: Each summer, Karlovy Vary hosts The International Film Festival, which attracts many notable names from the silver screen, such as Miloš Forman, Robert de Niro, John Travolta, Oliver Stone, Alan Alda, Michael Douglas, Steve Buscemi, and Salma Hayek, just to name a few of the famous guests who have attended in past years.
